Self-harm describes deliberating harming yourself. It doesn't matter how you do it or what you do, its still self-harm. People self-harm for a variety of reasons to express some emotion or feeling including trying to regain control, punishment, release of tension, frustration and distress, to feel grounded. However, there are other ways to improve how you feel and release emotions without physically hurting yourself. Finding happiness, finding self-worth and feeling good about yourself are important things to achieve and there are resources below to help you do this without hurting.
